OM/A-U-M, YOGA and the path to spirituality goes hand in hand… it depicts legacy of our culture! This initiated as early as Pre-Vedic era and was nurtured during Vedic era… A science which was developed by sages in India and passed on for the peace and progress of the subsequent generations! An blessing bestowed on us by ANCIENT INDIA!

My quest towards spirituality began when I was five; while reciting Morning Prayer at school!!

I never realized what makes me happy and peaceful each time I recite it…that’s  the reason that prayer is the first thing we do in the morning…which imparts enough bliss to carry out the whole day!

 असतो मा सद्गमय 
तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय 
मृत्योर्मा अमृतं गमय 
 शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः 

Om Asato Maa Sad-Gamaya |

( lead me towards the right path)

Tamaso Maa Jyotir-Gamaya |

(lead me from darkness to light)

Mrtyor-Maa Amrtam Gamaya |

( take me from death to immortality)

Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih ||

Yoga is a way of life in chorus with a rhythmic unison of physical health and mental peace…it tunes up a balance and stability which heads towards a blissful life!

Yoga, meditation encourages on focusing on our own self; which in turn guides to the path of success…Self realization is an integral component for a delightful living! UNESCO in 2016 has listed Yoga as Intangible Cultural Heritage! And of course it is …may be much beyond that…

When we talk about yoga and meditation it’s almost incomplete without a mention of OM (pronounced as A-U-M)…OM/A-U-M is a core of everything…it has its roots nested in Vedas…OM originates from Sanskrit; a very basic simple word which encompasses the frequency of whole universe….the vibration of A-U-M/OM has a frequency of 432 Hz which is ubiquitously found in all the sounds of the universe.

A-U-M is as rich in its heritage…it is as divine as deity themselves …as pure as rain water… as peaceful as one would feel watching flowing water hitting the stones and making its way from the sides of it…it is a sound of universe which simply imparts tranquility…A-U-M traditionally being prefixed to all mantras and prayers!! Reciting it generates the positive vibes which vibrates the whole body; which resonates with positivity!!


There are certain steps which are supposed to be followed

  1. Sit erect – make a lotus posture with index finger and thumb in touch with each other. Make sure that back should be erect.Image result for yoga images
  2. Close the eyes– eyes are the windows to the outer world…when we want to focus on ourselves we must close our eyes gently as they take off every distraction and settles the wandering mind.Image result for yoga images

  4. Chanting OM- Split OM into AA-UU-Mmmmmmmmm; to the as much extent as possible.
  5. Chant it as many times you feel comfortable.
  6. Open eyes gently and here you are ready to face the world!!Related image

It improves the concentration… especially useful for students.

Tranquilized mind has better retention…not only does the chanting pacify mind, it also boost the memory and creates a microenvironment towards efficient learning…

Om meditation is healing and maintain health– A-U-M has a strong healing power…it strengthens the mind and hence the body.

It detoxifies the body. When our body vibrates with the vibration of A-U-M itself; a cascade of positivity begins which not only controls our endocrine system but also detoxify it.

A-U-M helps to focus on yourself; which cuts off distractions and enhances creativity of a person.

OM meditation stimulates positivity and boosts the metabolism…which not only helps to reduce weight but also imparts a glow and peace or you may  consider it as an aura!!

Tranquilized brain is a seat of sound sleep. A natural method to handle insomnia. It has a positive influence on brain and body which combats day to day stress and lowers blood pressure!

It imparts emotional stability and hence encourages a person to grow up as individual. It helps to estimate self!!
